Changsha sets 2023 GDP growth target at around 7 percent

As Changsha released this year’s government work report, objectives set for economic and social development in 2023 were also released.

For example, the city’s GDP is expected to increase by around 7 percent. The total retail sales of consumer goods will grow by 7 percent, and the total import and export volume is planned to rise by more than 12 percent.

In 2022, while doing a good job in epidemic prevention, stable economy, and safe development, Changsha actively responded to the impact of unexpected factors, and achieved good results.  

For instance, its total economic aggregate ranked among top trillion-yuan cities in China. The new generation of independent security computing system industrial cluster has been promoted to a national advanced manufacturing cluster. For 15 consecutive years, Changsha has been selected as one of China’s Happiest Cities.  

The following five years will be a critical period to build a modern socialist and new Changsha in all respects. Changsha will vigorously promote the construction of a national central city, “three hubs” and a happy city suitable for living, working and travel. It will also drive coordinated development of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Metropolitan Area to make significant progress.

Focusing on the above tasks, Changsha will deeply implement the Strategy of “Strengthening the Provincial Capital”, and vigorously promote the construction of the “Double Five” project.
