There has been no increase in temperature in Hunan Province since the arrival of the strongest cold wave, and the latest weather forecasts indicate that a new cold wave is brewing.

According to Hunan Meteorological Bureau, the next three days in Hunan will be dominated by cloudy weather with sunny days. However, from the evening of December 15 to December 16, there will be a cold wave and gale process.

The wind scale in the whole province will generally increase to 5~ 6, and that of the local area can reach around 9. The maximum temperature will drop by 8 ℃~ 10 ℃, while the lowest temperature will plummet to about -2 ℃. There will be sleet or light snow in Northern Hunan.

There will be light rain on overcast days in Northern and Central Hunan. In particular, there will be sleet or light snow in Zhangjiajie, Changde, Xiangxi, Northern Huaihua, Northern Yiyang and Northern Yueyang, while the other areas will be dominated by cloudy to overcast days.

The cold wave will bring not only strong wind and snow but also a dramatic drop in temperature. From the evening of December 16 to December 18, although the weather in Hunan will be mainly cloudy on sunny days, the minimum temperature will fall to -3℃~ -1℃. Especially on the morning of December 17 and December 18, the temperature may be below 0 ℃. So please keep warm to prevent yourself from cold.

According to Hunan Climate Center, the average temperature of Hunan in the winter of 2022 to 2023 (December 2022 to February 2023) may be 0.5 ℃~ 1.0 ℃ lower than that in the same period of the year, while the average temperature in most other regions may be slightly higher than that in the same period of the year. The seasonal temperature will change obviously in stages, showing a trend of warmth in early winter and cold in late winter. And there will be periodic low temperatures, rain, snow and freezing weather, mainly from the middle of January to the first ten days of February.
