Tanzichong Village is located in the southeast of Huaminglou Town, Ningxiang City. It is a typical representative of hilly villages in the south of the Yangtze River with undulating mountains, verdant trees and crisscross roads. It has a profound history with cultural relics all over the village.
Liu Shaoqi’s former residence is a national 5A tourist scenic area, national first-class museum, and one of the top ten red classic scenic areas in China, which can receive more than four million tourists every year. In 2022, Tanzichong Village was successfully approved as a famous historical and cultural village in Hunan Province.

On November 11, in Tanzichong Village, the weather was sunny in warm winter, which was a good time for travel. The village is surrounded by green mountains.

Entering Tanzichong Village, you can see the Bronze Statue Square, Liu Shaoqi Memorial Hall, Liu Shaoqi’s Former Residence, and the former site of Tanzichong School. All the red scenic areas are teeming with tourists.

Tanzichong Village covers an area of 18.5 square kilometers. It is a national patriotism education demonstration base with picturesque scenery and honest folk customs. Liu Shaoqi Memorial Hall is one of the first national 5A tourist scenic areas and the 100 red tourism routes.
There are abundant cultural relics at Tanzichong Village, like three ancient bridges, which were built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and many ancient wells. Recently, the village has organized the maintenance and protection of ancient wells and tombs, especially the tombs of martyrs.

In order to highlight the traditional Red culture, make good use of Red resources, carry forward Red spirit, and inherit the Red gene, Tanzichong Village, taking advantage of its traffic location and tourism resources, has built rice, flowers, fruits, vegetables and other planting bases through land transfer to attract urban residents and tourists. 

Meanwhile, it has also provided tourists with supporting tourism services such as study tour, catering and homestay inns, vigorously develoing rural tourism. Besides, it has brought together local specialties for packaging and sales, gradually creating the brand of “Tanzichong”.

At present, Tanzichong Village has initially formed an industrial chain combining agriculture, culture, tourism and education, with Red tourism as the pillar industry to achieve integrated industrial development.

Focusing on the three major goals of “ecology, industry and people’s livelihood”, and relying on Liu Shaoqi’s  core scenic areas, it is seeking to promote the construction of beautiful and livable villages in rural areas.

While protecting the existing Red cultural scenic areas, it is also digging out cultural resources to create special cultural tourism projects, develop rural tourism, and build itself into a well-known historic and cultural village.
