Zhou Xuan, a 59-year-old resident of Heijinshidai Community in Baimaqiao Subdistrict, Ningxiang City, registered for cornea donation on May 16.  

When he called the Ningxiang Red Cross and expressed his desire to donate cornea, the relevant staff provided him with door-to-door service, considering that the road was slippery because of rain and Zhou Xuan was unable to use the smartphone for registration.
Zhou Xuan is the No.381 organ (cornea) donor registered this year in Ningxiang City.

Zhou Xuan received the birthday cake from the Ningxiang Red Cross and said with a smile that he wanted to give himself a “special” birthday present, and fulfilled his long-cherished aspiration. He said his family was supportive of the decision.

“I hope I can help others in need so that my life can continue in another way,” said Zhou Xuan.

Organ donation is a noble cause to save the lives of patients with organ failure, to serve the development of medicine, to show the brilliance of humanity, to pass on the great love of mankind, and to reflect the progress of social civilization.

The number of inquiries about body and organ donation in Ningxiang City has increased year by year, and 4,569 cases have been registered since 2016.
