Over 1,000 people-benefiting performances staged in Changsha

The 2021 ASEAN-China Culture and Tourism Week was held in Changsha from December 26 to 31. Changsha embraces profound culture, rich cultural and tourist resources and thriving cultural and creative industries.

In 2021, Changsha has seen fruitful achievements in cultural and tourist work, especially in providing free or subsidized performances and boosting rural revitalization.

Changsha experience was shared at the national summary meeting on key reforms in the public culture sector.  

Since 2021, to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China, Changsha cultural and tourism departments launched 34 activities in 5 series for the “Year of Red Culture and Tourism”, pushed the construction of 11 exemplary revolutionary cultural relics and improved 48 red attractions, launched a series of training sessions and competitions, and created 10 red programs like “Half a Quilt” and “Study Notes of Cai Hesen”.

Changsha strengthened exchanges and cooperation in cultural tourism with important tourist resources in many places like Beijing’s Chaoyang District, Wuhan, and Zhejiang’s Shaoxing.

For example, it held Changsha-Guangzhou Culture Week, issued over 60,000 cultural tourism cards with Jiangxi Province, and speeded up the construction of Liuyang Cultural Tourism Belt with a fund of 200 million yuan and opened Changsha-Longshan special tourist bus to help Longshan get out of poverty through cultural tourism.

Changsha issued cultural tourism consumption coupons worth 5 million yuan, selected top 10 cultural tourism consumption demonstration projects, and held cultural tourism consumption seasons, which greatly promoted cultural tourism consumption.  

Changsha’s culture and tourism benefits the people. 100 standard village (community) cultural centers and 30 demonstration sites for culture and tourism integration were built. Changsha made a typical speech at the national summary meeting on key reforms in the field of public culture.

A series of free or subsidized activities to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China were launched. More than 1,000 people-benefiting performances and 6,339 free movies were provided in villages.

Changsha’s culture and tourism boosts rural revitalization strategy. It has vigorously developed rural tourism and revitalized rural culture. Top 10 rural tourist attractions were selected, top 10 excellent holiday inns were created and rural tourist routes were released.

Fulin Town Cultural Station in Changsha County has been rated as the ninth national advanced unit for serving farmers and grass-roots cultural construction. Five villages including Shatian township’s Changchong village won the title of China’s beautiful red villages.

In the first three quarters of this year, the city’s rural attractions received 46 million tourists and generated revenue of 34.8 billion yuan, an increase of 18.46% and 19.62% respectively.
