Ningxiang No. 1 High School

Ningxiang No. 1 High School was one of the first key provincial high schools in Hunan province. Located between the Changsha-Changde Expressway and National Highway 319 (G319) at the west gate of Changsha, it is only 30 kilometers away from the center of Changsha. The school covers an area of 400 mu (266,667 square meters) with a total construction area of 130,000 square meters. It has reasonable planning, advanced facilities with complete functions and an elegant environment. The school now has 78 high school classes with more than 4,000 students.
 
Founded in 1912, the school has a long history and was initially named Hunan Provincial No. 1 Women's Normal School. It was founded by Zhu Jianfan, a great democratic fighter, revolutionist and educator, and the first principal of the school. In 1941, it was renamed “Hunan Provincial No. 5 Middle School” and in 1952, it was named “Hunan Ningxiang County No. 1 Senior High School”. Xu Teli, Li Shuyi, Yang Changji, Zhou Shizhao and other educational celebrities taught there, while Xiang Jingyu, Miao Boying, Zeng Xianzhi and other revolutionary ancestors were students there.
 
The school boasts a reasonable teacher system and strong teaching resources. All 258 full-time teachers have bachelor's degrees or above, and there are seven special-grade teachers, 138 senior middle school teachers and 105 first-grade middle school teachers.
