Staff sharing helps solve labor shortage

Recently, a special pre-employment training session for new employees of Changsha Gree HVAC and Refrigeration Equipment Company (Changsha Gree) in Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone was held, including 40 shared employees from Zhuzhou Times New Material Technology Company. This is the first batch of shared employees introduced by Ningxiang city.

It’s a new experience for Tian Ming, a staff of Zhuzhou Times, to enter Changsha Gree. Tian said: “Zhuzhou Times is in the off-season of production, and some employees have been on holiday. Later the company informed us that we can sign up voluntarily during the off-season to work in Changsha Gree.”

Tian told the reporter that he was very happy to be a shared employee. Because he can retain the job in the original enterprise, and increase income and learn new skills in Changsha Gree, a large company.

Some enterprises are faced with reduced orders and surplus employees in off-season, while others need more labors.

“It’s the peak production season for Changsha Gree from March to the end of October every year. This year, there is a need of 1,000 more workers.” Tu Liangchao, director of the human resources department of Changsha Gree, said that more than 20 special job fairs held by the city helped the company hire hundreds of people.

“Since January 17, we have investigated the employment situation of enterprises in the park, and learned that Changsha Gree will add about 1,000 people this year, and so we organized many job fairs. In March, Changsha Gree said they must hire 500 new staffs within 30 days. But due to the Covid-19, it’s hard to meet the labor demand of Changsha Gree.” Luo Weihua, head of the human resources department of the park, said that Zhuzhou Times has about 200 employees laid idle.

After learning the actual employment situation of these two enterprises, they came up with the creative idea of shared employees, bringing the surplus staff of Zhuzhou Times to Changsha Gree.

After rounds of negotiation and some leaders’ visit to Changsha Gree for inspection of the real situation, Zhuzhou Times found the fit between their employees and Gree’s job vacancies, so they decided to “lend” 40 employees to Changsha Gree from April 10 to June. If the mode is successfully implemented, they will sign a long-term sharing and cooperation agreement.
