Huolala Food seeks steady growth in 2022

In the workshop of Hunan Huolala Food, which is located in Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, bottles of chopped peppers and pickled peppers rolling off the production lines will be sold across the country and even in overseas Chinese supermarkets.


Huolala Food is a modern agricultural products processing enterprise integrating planting, research and development, processing and sales of chopped pepper, millet pepper and pepper seasoning.

The company has introduced high-end production technology of pepper processing, purchased and improved automatic production equipment with independent intellectual property rights, equipped with standardized production workshops, professional inspection rooms and scientific research centers. 

At present, its products have possessed a considerable market share in Wal-mart, Carrefour, RT-Mart, Yonghui, Vanguard, Century Mart and other international and domestic large stores. 

In recent years, the company also has increased efforts in expanding channels in circulation and catering and formed a diversified marketing model.

“In 2021, our output value exceeded 90 million yuan, an increase of more than 15%. Especially in the second half of 2021, there was a boom in sales,” said Hu Deyi, general manager of Huolala Food.

He said that the company has been focusing on product control and quality supervision for many years, which makes itself a trustworthy brand for consumers. A series of new products launched in the second half of last year saw doubled growth in sales.

In the production workshop, red peppers are made into tasty chopped peppers after one-hour processing.

Hu Deyi said: “We strictly control food quality and food safety with the integration of the whole industrial chain. We have standard procedures ranging from the selection of varieties, the formulation and supervision of the production process, and the marketing to make best-quality products with carefully selected ingredients.”

Hu Deyi showed the reporter the newly developed black bean chili sauce in 2021. According to Hu, the chili is from the mountain area at an elevation of 800 to 1,200 meters in Yunnan Province, and the fermented black bean comes from Laoyipin fermented black bean, an intangible cultural heritage item of Liuyang, which has a better taste and aroma. Therefore, the product is well-received for its good ingredients and taste.

For Hu Deyi, making peppers is his lifework. “Making food needs conscience,” he said. As the new year begins, Hu is thinking about building a chili sauce fermentation tank with the hope of combing traditional and modern techniques to produce better products.

He believed that some flavors can only be possible through time, rather than by seasoning. Those products are definitely more popular.

In light of the trend of consumption upgrading, the company will cooperate with Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hunan Agricultural University and other units to carry out scientific and technological innovation. Its “small goal” of the year is to achieve a growth of more than 20% on the basis of 2021.
