The launch ceremony of Changsha sodium-ion battery innovation consortium, as well as the Xiangjiang sodium ion battery application and industrial development forum, was held in Ningxiang High-tech Zone on June 11.

The new energy industry has ushered in a historical opportunity of rapid development driven by the national strategy of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”.

Although the sodium-ion battery industry has been in an early stage of development compared to the widely-used lithium-ion battery, it has important strategic significance for China to reduce the external dependence on lithium resources.

Thus, the sodium-ion battery is considered as the most potential new energy storage batteries, attracting extensive attention from academic and industrial circles.

Changsha sodium-ion battery innovation consortium is composed of 20 enterprises, including Hunan Battery Industry Association, Central South University, Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Li-fun Technology, Nabang Technology.

It will rely on leading enterprises, universities, research institutes, and funds to accelerate the implementation of sodium ion battery technology research, achievement transformation and industrialization by means of up-down linkage, enterprise cooperation, and school-enterprise cooperation, so as to build Changsha into a world’s capital of sodium-ion battery.
