Established in 2006, Ningxiang High-tech Zone was made a provincial level industrial cluster area in 2012 and was approved as a provincial high-tech zone in 2015. Later, the zone was successively approved as the national high-tech industrialization base of energy conservation and environmental protection, the national new industrialization demonstration base, the Hunan provincial energy storage material industrial park and the first battery industry cluster demonstration area in China.
   
Ningxiang High-tech Zone's leading industry is construction machinery, and its special industry is energy storage lithium batteries. Sany Group and Sinoboom are the leading construction machinery industry enterprises in the zone. Its energy storage lithium battery industry has formed the fullest industrial chain in the province, attracting BYD, Shanshan Energy, Brunp Recycling and more than 10 leading enterprises. Together, the two industries are expected to exceed 100 billion yuan of output value by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).
 
With the aim of building a first-class national innovation park, Ningxiang High-tech Zone has established six academician workstations, six national innovative platforms and 21 provincial scientific innovative platforms based on the Science and Technology Park of Hunan's Universities and Intellectual Property Operation Service Center of Hunan's Colleges and Universities. It has been ranked first among provincial high-tech zones for its innovative development for two consecutive years. Ningxiang High-tech Zone made a statement as a representative of the province's high-tech zones at Hunan provincial science and technology innovation conference.
 
Ningxiang High-tech Zone also focuses on opening up and cooperation. It cooperates with Xiangjiang New Area and the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone. It has hosted a number of forums and exhibitions such as ABEC 2016 and the Solid State Battery Technology Development Summit Forum.
 
2021 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Ningxiang High-tech Zone will rise to the task of achieving high quality development.
