Two towns in Ningxiang stand out for rural revitalization

Meitanba Town and Shuangjiangkou Township of Ningxiang City have been included in the list of demonstration townships for rural revitalization in Hunan Province.


Meitanba Towns is located in the north central part of Ningxiang City, with an area of 73.8 square kilometers, a population of 51,100, 7 villages and communities under its jurisdiction.


Meitanba Town is seeking to build a creative coal town, and it has explored a unique grassroots governance model.


By promoting the construction of demonstration parks featuring the coal mining industry, Meitanba Town has been making efforts to build famous cultural tourism town featuring industrial relics and create beautiful villages featuring subsidence treatment and ecological restoration to achieve the transformation and upgrading of this resource-exhausted town. It has been rated as the first batch of characteristic industrial towns in Hunan Province.


It has been awarded such titles as Rural Revitalization Demonstration Town in Hunan Province, and Changsha’s Ten Towns (townships) with rapid economic and social development.


Shuangjiangkou Town is located in the northeast of Ningxiang City, in the lower reaches of the Pujiang River, with a town area of 155 square kilometers, 17 administrative villages and communities, a population of 90,000, and a cultivated land area of 107,900 mu (about 7,193.33 hectares).

Historically, due to the development of water transportation, it enjoyed the reputation of "Little Shanghai". It has obvious advantages in seedling planting, citrus, dairy cows, pig breeding, aquaculture and others. It is a famous "land of fish and rice".


Hu Anguo, a famous economist of the Southern Song Dynasty, once founded Lingfeng Academy here, and Zhang Lu, the originator of Huxiang culture, and Zhu Xi, the great scholar of confucianism, once gave lectures here. It has won many honorary titles for grain production, rural revitalization and integration of three industries.
