Changsha was again rated as one of top 10 happiest cities in China for 2021, according to the results released in Beijing on December 30. There are 10 provincial capitals and cities under separate state planning including Changsha, Chengdu and Hangzhou, 10 prefecture-level cities, as well as 10 county-level cities and urban areas like Changsha county.

The survey and selection of “The Happiest Cities in China” is hosted by the Oriental Outlook Weekly and Oriental Outlook Think Tank, and supported technically by the China Happy City Laboratory and the Business Intelligence Laboratory of Baidu Research Institute.

This year, it conducted the survey around the sense of happiness of Chinese cities and aimed to promote the vivid practices of the construction of happy cities.

After a three-month-long process that included big data collection, questionnaires, materials submission, field research, and expert reviews, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Changsha, Wuhan, Nanjing, Qingdao, Guiyang, Xining and Harbin were selected as the happiest cities in China for 2021.
