Changsha ranks 11th among 2021 Top 100 cities

Recently, the Urban Economic Research Center of CCID Consulting has released the “2021 Study on the Comprehensive Competitiveness of the Top 100 Cities”, which includes five cities of Hunan Province — Changsha (11th), Yueyang (54th), Changde (58th), Hengyang (67th), and Zhuzhou (84th).

Relying on statistics in 2020, 2021 CCID Consulting Top 100 cities focuses on key urban economic development indicators and evaluates the high-quality development level of China’s 293 prefecture-level cities (excluding municipalities, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) from such dimensions as economic scale, development quality and efficiency, comprehensive vitality, potential energy for innovation, shared wealth, urban energy level.

2021 CCID Consulting Top 100 cities include 14 megacities and 55 supercities, with each selected city’s GDP exceeding 240 billion yuan in 2020. There are 55 cities in the central and eastern region, 24 in the central region, 17 in the western region and 4 in the northeastern region.

Compared with the top 100 cities in 2020 (55 in the east, 26 in the middle, 15 in the west and 4 seats in the northeast), the overall regional distribution is more coordinated.

From the perspective of urban agglomerations, 95 of the Top 100 cities are distributed among 18 city clusters, of which Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomerations, with 24 cities selected, ranks first. Apart from that, Triangle of Central China (11 cities), Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (8 cities), Guangdong-Fujian-Zhejiang Coastal Urban Agglomeration (8 cities), Central Plains Urban Agglomeration (8 cities), Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration (7 cities) are in the 2nd-6th places respectively.
