Peng Guohui checks his agricultural machines when the harvest season comes every year, including rice transplanter, rotary cultivator, harvester and dryer, which are all computer-controlled. He plans to buy a drone as long as he makes money this year. 

The utilization of agricultural machinery gave Peng a new experience of the autumn harvest. In 2016, he set up Xinwushan Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Fengshou Village, Huilongpu Town, Ningxiang City, transferred 20 hectares of land to grow rice. 

"It used to take one month to harvest rice for a household, and the yield per mu was only 300 kg to 350 kg. Now the large-scale harvest can be completed in three days, and the yield increased to more than 500 kg, with a net income of over 180,000 yuan," Peng Guohui said.

This August, Liao Xu opened an online store “Fengshouwan Local Specialty” to sell chopped peppers, Laba bean, eggplant peel and other local specialties of Fengshou Village.

“Every household in Fengshou Village can produce these products, but it didn’t sell well for lack of brands and packaging,” said Liao Xu, who returned home to start a business and registered the trademark “Fengshouwan”. He buys local products from villagers and sells them after processing and packaging.

If he buys about 5,000 yuan of local specialties from one household every year, and the annual output value can reach 1 million yuan. "I have an offline store in Ningxiang and an online shop, and the plan to build a standard production plant has been approved by the village." Liao Xu said that local specialties have more sales channels and sales volume with increasing agricultural output and tourists.  

Weishui River passes through the village, which is decorated with golden fields, green lotus ponds, rural residencies and country roads.

Zhong Xiang, party secretary of the village, said that Fengshou Village is a traditional agricultural village which has planting bases for rice, lotus and flowers. At present, the village is carrying out the construction of beautiful countryside and cultivating integrated agriculture and tourism industry.

Therefore, Fengshou Village’s harvest has a new meaning. The original harvest only means a harvest of rice, but now, the harvest has turned into a harvest of rice, flowers, lotus, breeding and the integration of agriculture and tourism, which is finally reflected in the increased income of the villagers.
