Changsha saw good air and water quality in August

The days with good ambient air quality in Changsha urban areas (including its high-tech zones, economic development zones and five districts) accounted for 90.3% in August this year, according to the report on environmental quality in August released by Changsha Municipal Bureau of Ecological Environment. In the first eight months this year, the number of days with good ambient air quality in urban areas is 211 days, and the excellent air quality rate was 86.8%.


O3 was the major air pollutant in Changsha in August. The number of days with excellent, good and light pollution ambient air quality were 14 days, 14 days and 3 days respectively. The days with good ambient quality of Wangcheng District, Changsha County, Liuyang City and Ningxiang City were 96.8%, 96.8%, 100% and 96.8% respectively.

What’s more, 32 national and provincial controlled surface water assessment sections in Changsha were all good, the same as that of in July, an increase of 3.8 percentage points over the same period of the previous year. There were no Class IV, Class V and inferior Class V water quality sections in the city.
