First International Summit on BDS Applications to open in Changsha

The First International Summit on Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) Applications will be held in Changsha from September 16 to 17.

The summit is themed with “BDS Serves the World, Applications Fuel the Future”. Representatives from relevant departments, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, experts and scholars, as well as representatives from international organizations and foreign government departments and enterprises will gather in Changsha to jointly boost the high-quality development of BDS scale applications.


The summit will have one main forum, several sub-forums and a BDS achievements exhibition. Government, industry, university, research institute and user representatives will discuss the new future of BDS industry’s scale development.

The exhibition will display the BDS application achievements in key fields of strategic industries, special industries, regional applications and mass consumption applications, and show the latest achievements in global application and promotion, which aims to look ahead to the prospects for the BDS application in all walks of life and in various fields in the future.

As China’s first major international event featuring BDS scale application, the summit will invite the satellite navigation experts and scholars around the world to take a broad view of the development trends of satellite navigation system, and promote the international exchanges and cooperation. It will help BDS to enhance its compatibility and interoperability with other satellite navigation systems around the world, so as to provide global users with higher performance, and more reliable and richer services.


After the Beidou-3 Navigation Satellite System was officially opened on July 31, 2020, it has achieved continuous and stable operation and entered a new stage of large-scale, industrialized and international development.

The output value of China’s satellite navigation and location service industry has reached 403.3 billion yuan. It has fully served multiple industries such as transportation, disaster relief and mitigation, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery. Relevant products have been exported to more than 120 countries and regions to provide services to above 100 million users.
