Five recommended hot springs in Hunan

By | nxiang.net| Updated:  Nov 12,2021 L M S
A hot spring, hydrothermal spring, or geothermal spring is a spring produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater onto the surface of the Earth. The groundwater is heated either by shallow bodies of magma or by circulation through faults to hot rock deep in the Earth's crust. In either case, the ultimate source of the heat is radioactive decay of naturally occurring radioactive elements in the Earth's mantle, the layer beneath the crust.

A bath in the hot spring can be a good way to get totally relaxed in winter time.

The Hunan Tourism Development Committee recommends the following five hot spring resorts for tourists.

Rucheng Reshui Hot Spring

Hot Spring in Reshui Town was formed by neotectonics dating back to 80 million years ago. It’s the hottest hot spring in south China, with an average temperature of 91.5℃ and the highest temperature of 98℃. The daily flow reaches 5,540 tons. There are more than 30 kinds of elements in the spring water that are beneficial to human health. Radon is particularly high. Former Vice President of the United Nations Geothermal College and former president of the International Geothermal Association D.H. Freeston and famous Chinese spa specialist Zang Wu once spoke highly of it and commented that it’s a rarely seen “radon spring” in China.

Taking a bath in Reshui Hot Spring can help allay tiredness, regulate endocrine and enhance reproductive gland production and prolong life. It’s particularly conducive to rheumatism, skin disease, gynecological disease and so on.

Fuquan Villa is one of the most representative hot spring resorts in Rucheng County. Apart from taking a hot spring bath, visitors can also enjoy hot spring rafting here.
