Huitang Hot Spring is located in Huitang Town in the south of Ningxiang City, Hunan Province, covering a total area of 48 square kilometers. The water temperature is as high as 89.5℃ and the annual average temperature is 16.2-17.6℃. It is in a subtropical monsoon climate, featuring moderate rainfall, sufficient sunshine, and fresh air.

Huitang Hot Spring is one of the three famous high-temperature composite hot springs in China, with a history of more than 2,000 years. The hot spring covers an area of 8 square kilometers, with a daily water supply of 3,500 tons. Endowed with unique resources, it enjoys a broad development prospect, with more than 10,000 tons of daily water supply yet to be developed.

Since the 1960s, a number of hot spring resorts and resort hotels have been built around Huitang Hot Spring, including Huitang Zilongwan Hot Spring Resort, Xiangdian Huitang Hot Spring Resort, Golden Sun Hot Spring Resort, and Huatian Huitang Hot Spring. Among them, Xiangdian Huitang Hot Spring Resort was built in 1988 and covers an area of more than 300 mu (20 hectares). It provides diversified services including hot spring healthcare, sports and leisure, conference and training, and health checkup. Built on a mountain, the resort affords beautiful scenery and is known as one of the "New Xiaoxiang Eight Views".

The spa is open from 09:00 to 24:00. There are lockers in the hot spring center for free storage of personal belongings.

The water of the Huitang Hot Spring is high-temperature alkaline with a pH value of 9, mineralization of 0.222-0.32 g/L and total hardness of 0.387-0.96 ºdH. The water contains 29 kinds of trace elements such as sulfur, radon, molybdenum, copper and zinc, which are beneficial to human body. Known as a "Natural Medicine Spring", it is effective in treating many skin diseases and chronic diseases such as arthritis.
