Guanshan Ancient Town Scenic Spot is located in Jinzhou Town, Ningxiang City, only 28 kilometers away from Changsha. The name of "Guan Shan" originates from the historical story that Guan Yunchang in the Three Kingdoms (A.D. 220-A.D. 280) stationed his troops here and finally conquered Huang Zhong, a veteran general, in Changsha.

Some other local villages’ names also originate from this story. A number of ancient weapons of the Three Kingdoms period were unearthed during the construction of Jinzhou Avenue a few years ago. However, the glory faded away in the past 2,000 years and Guanshan Village remained a common village like many other rural villages in Hunan province for a long time. Since a few years ago, relying on its history and culture, gorgeous scenery and customs, the local government has built Guanshan Ancient Town Scenic Spot by utilizing external capital, integrating the rural construction into tourism. The village is surrounded by lush hills, green water and fertile farmland, forming a pleasant landscape. The endowed geographical resources, the simple lifestyle and honest people are all appealing to visitors.

In recent years, Guanshan Village has won many titles such as the most beautiful village, demonstration village for new countryside construction and the integrated development of urban and rural areas. In 2013, it was rated as one of the top ten "Most Charming Leisure Villages in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture, and as a AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
