Changsha South Railway Station handles 413,000 passenger trips during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday
The Guangzhou Railway Group had handled 3.934 million passenger trips during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, according to the group on September 12.
High-speed rail passenger trips hit 3.247 million, taking up 82.5% of the total passenger trips. A total of 413,000 passenger trips were made at the Changsha South Railway Station. A peak of 133,000 passenger trips in a single day was made on September 10.
Passengers embarked on their return journeys on September 12, the last day of the holiday. Guangzhou Railway Group witnessed a peak of return passengers from small and medium-sized cities in the surrounding areas to large cities.
Guangzhou Railway Group opened 1,001.5 pairs of passenger trains on September 12, including 901 pairs of high-speed bullet trains.
This provided sufficient railway capacity for returning passengers. Data showed that the Guangzhou Railway Group was expected to handle 1.07 million passenger departures and 1.12 million passenger arrivals on September 12.
The Guangzhou Railway Group has increased services for key passengers such as the elderly, children, the sick, the physically-challenged, and expectant mothers, and has kept traditional service channels open such as ticket counters and manual ticket checking to facilitate the travel of the elderly and people who are disconnected from the Internet.
Railway stations have actively cooperated with the transportation authorities to add more buses, subway trains, and taxis or extend their operating hours according to the arrival time of trains. Driving routes at station entrances were optimized to ensure a smooth "last kilometer" travel.
The Guangzhou Railway Group has continued to strengthen its scientific and technological epidemic prevention capabilities. More than 400 5G intelligent health verification and epidemic prevention machines have been installed at the entrances, exits and transfer passages of stations.
This has greatly improved inspection efficiency. The Changsha South Railway Station has comprehensively upgraded self-service real-name verification gates and manual real-name verification equipment in 18 stations under its management. Passengers' nucleic acid test results would be checked automatically to improve the efficiency of passenger traffic.
